Place a large pot of water or beer over medium-high heat and bring to low heat. If the liquid starts to boil, reduce the heat so it stays in a gentle slow fire. Boiling the liquid will cause the bratwurst casing to explode and it will leave dry, hard sausages.
Add the sausages to a low-heat liquid and allow to cook for about 10 minutes.
Transfer the bratwurst to a frying pan on the stove or in a frying pan on your broilers. For the top of the cooking range, heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the brats until they are golden on all sides, turning them with tweezers, cooking for about one to two minutes on each side. Alternatively, heat your broilers and transfer the brats to a baking tray. Place the brats under the rotisserie. Cook until browned on all sides, turning each to two minutes.
